What Does Physical Security Do?

If you’re reading this, chances are good that you’re at least aware of the physical security workforce. The people who protect your infrastructure inside and outside the walls of the building where your business, and by extension, livelihood operate. Whether you’re a small business owner or a corporate tycoon, losing your business is a nightmare scenario. By protecting what’s yours, you help ensure that that nightmare scenario never comes to fruition.

So what does a security staff provide to your business?

  • Eyes- In a world of spammers, phishers and hackers, it’s easy to overlook the necessity of keeping eyes on who walks in the front door or who doesn’t walk out of it. In the event of a breach or just an aimless wanderer, a trained staff is the first line of defense when it comes to keeping people out of places they don’t belong.
  • Another Sense- Sight. Sound. Touch. Taste. Smell. Safety. You may have only been taught five senses in grade school, but there’s another sense, and it’s the one you give to every person that steps into your business. Those guards give employees and visitors a feeling that, they, along with the rest of the building, are protected. You can’t put a dollar sign next to that.
  • A Deterrent- For those that aim to hurt your business, whether by theft, vandalism or breaching a system, a physical body dedicated to ensuring that those things never happen, provides a major reason not to even try. For those that wish to do your business harm, just the sight of a capable security force can be enough to make them rethink their plans.
  • Lost And Found- It may not seem like something of significant importance, but a lost and found box can be a significant part of a strategy to keep your businesses information safe. If you or one of your employees accidentally misplaces a phone, wallet or other important items, that can be used to attack your business. Physical bodies that patrol an area naturally keep an eye out for dropped or misplaced items, recovering and securing these items not only save you and your employees precious time, they protect your business

from being compromised by information that is meant to belong solely to employees.

Of course, a physical security force needs to operate efficiently in order to be effective. With PatrolScan’s security tour systems and guard tour software protecting and ensuring the performance of the people who protect your business is a little bit easier.
